The gospel reading suggests that people of faith, those who seek to be guided by the light of Christ, will always have something very fundamental in common with all who seek the truth with sincerity of heart. Our calling is to open our hearts ever more fully to the powerful presence of the Spirit, whom the Lord continues to pour out on all who know their need of the Spirit. Since the time of Jesus it has been a centre of pilgrimage not only for Jews but also for Christians. However, for the good shepherd, the role is not just a job; it is a loving commitment. We have compiled a comprehensive set of reflections on the readings, covering the entire year. He immediately goes on to say, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. There is a need for different groups of people to take responsibility for different ministries. However, Mark also assures us that in our efforts to live the gospel, the Lord is with us to strengthen us and support us. For God, it is a matter of the greatest urgency that the gospel that was proclaimed and lived by his Son, now risen Lord, be announced to as many people as possible. As Jesus says in the gospel reading, those who belong to me listen to my voice. Afterwards, both the two disciples and the Ethiopian went on their way rejoicing. We generally think of the phenomenon of stealing in relation to things, to objects of various kinds. Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me. He wants people to go in and out through him. Thomas was not with the other disciples when the risen Lord stood in their midst. Jesus revealed Gods faithfulness to us; he loved us even when we put him to death. Catherine remained faithful to Urban, in spite of his faults, because he had been duly elected. This is how the Spirit continues to shape the life of the church. And it happened that while they were conversing and debating, Jesus himself drew near and walked with them, but their eyes were prevented from recognizing him. You, a teacher in Israel, and you do not know these things! replied Jesus. The Lord meets us where we are, in all our fears and doubts, and he does so to draw us into a sharing in his risen life. Thomas too had locked himself away from the other disciples and from the Lord because of his strong doubt. but anyone who refuses to believe in the Son will never see life: Yet, Jesus declares that he wishes his relationship with his followers to have the same intimate nature. What do we expect from him? There was a very large hungry crowd gathered around Jesus and his disciples and the only food source was a small boy with five loaves and two fish. Here and now the Lord wants us to know something of that life to the full which is our ultimate destiny. The Lord calls each of us in accordance with our own particular nature. We speak of the Spirit as the third person of the Trinity. except the one who comes from God: As the shepherd calls his sheep one by one, so the Lord calls his followers one by one; he calls them by name; he calls them in a way that respects their individuality and uniqueness. Amen, amen, I say to you, we speak of what we know and we testify to what we have seen, but you people do not accept our testimony. Complete the form below to register.
